The DT30 is a future classic. Ascending almost 3,000ft from Swaledale up to the Tan Hill Inn (Great Britain’s highest pub), it’s never going to be an easy race. This route (reversed since 2015) takes you on the C2C to the tiny hamlet of Ravenseat before heading up and across some of the country’s remotest expanses of moorland to reach the Tan Hill Inn. A section of the Pennine Way takes you back down to Swaledale, but don’t get complacent – a stiff ascent of the spectacular Swinner Gill follows. From there, the fast, flying descent on moorland tracks and the final dash to the finish line through Muker’s iconic Swaledale flower meadows make this a race not to be missed.
Note that while the DT30 route is a marked route, basic map-reading skills are definitely a plus on this course to help you plan your race strategy.
Starts/finishes at Muker, Upper Swaledale.
Total ascent: 992m / 3254ft.
Camping is available at Usha Gap Campsite, just outside Muker (race HQ). It’s a beautiful location so why not bring friends and family and make a weekend of it?
